For the second time in six years, the U.S. Department of Education has designated Nanuet Senior High School as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2022.

“We are deeply honored and humbled to have been selected once again for this national award,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kevin McCahill. “It is a recognition of the hard work, dedication and passion that our students, teachers, administrators, families and community put into this amazing school every day.”

Nanuet Senior High School was recognized as an “Exemplary High Performing School” as measured by performance on assessments referenced against national norms. The high school is among 297 public and private elementary, middle and high schools recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for overall academic excellence this year.

“I applaud all the honorees for the 2022 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award for creating vibrant, welcoming and affirming school communities where students can learn, grow, reach their potential and achieve their dreams,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. “As our country continues to recover from the pandemic, we know that our future will only be as strong as the education we provide to all of our children. Blue Ribbon Schools have gone above and beyond to keep students healthy and safe while meeting their academic, social, emotional and mental health needs.”

In its 39-year history, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed this coveted award on more than 9,000 of America's finest schools.

A community celebration of Nanuet Senior High School’s national honor will take place during the regular meeting of the Board of Education on Tuesday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. Members of the public and the media are invited to attend.

Nanuet Senior High School is a nationally recognized public school serving 722 students in grades 9-12 and is accredited by the Middle States Association Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools.
