New City Cheerleading Team Honored For Winning Year
The New City Rams Junior Pee Wee Cheerleading Team not only made it to the nationals but finished second.

NEW CITY, NY — The New City Rams Junior Pee Wee Cheerleading Team not only made it to the national championship competition but finished second. The Rockland County Legislature honored the team this week, recognizing the cheerleaders, coaches and volunteers who took the team all the way to the nationals in Florida.
The team racked up an amazing list of championships. It took first place in the Rockland County Pop Warner Championship in Monroe, first place in the Empire Classic State Championship in Utica, and second place in the Regional Pop Warner Championship in Trenton, N.J. It then placed second among some 400 teams in the National Pop Warner Championship at Disney World in Florida.
Honored were: Ava Beltran, Giavonna Clemente, Amanda Collopy, Arielle Diaz, Ashley Earley, Camryn Koester, Samantha Lenn, Gloria Mitchell, Caroline Monteferrante, and Danyelle Yannantuono.

Also honored was head coach Tanisha Mitchell, Assistant Coaches Gillian Lawrence, Kimberly Clearly, Megan Porter, Holly Koester, and Volunteers Marie Earley and Kayla Fleming.
Legislator Laurie Santulli invited the team and led the ceremony. She was once a team cheerleader and then served as a coach.

“We are so proud of you and so happy to honor you here tonight,” Santulli said. “You will talk about this competition experience for years to come.”
“I know what it takes to get to the nationals, and that’s hard work, perseverance, and commitment,” Santulli added. “Each member of the team has demonstrated these traits and together, scored an amazing accomplishment.”
