New City Man Charged with DWI after Thruway Collision
Police allege he rear-ended another car near Exit 12.

A New City man faces charges after a two-car accident on the Thruway Feb. 22.
At 6:31 p.m., State Police responded to the crash on I-87 near Exit 12, where, police said, the driver of a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta rear-ended a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder.
All parties involved were uninjured.

Troopers concluded the driver of the Volkswagen, Thomas G. Pomponio, 37, of New City, NY, was intoxicated. He was transported and processed at SP Tarrytown, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.22 percent. He was subsequently charged with:
- Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor
- Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations
Pomponio was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Clarkstown Court on March 2.
