New City Native Wins Scholarship From Laser Spine Institute

This annual scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a career in health care.

NEW CITY, NY — Helen Pozdniakova has been selected to receive a $1,500 scholarship to advance her education in medicine from Laser Spine Institute, a national spine surgical center, with seven locations across the U.S.

This annual scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in pursuing a career in health care. Pozdniakova was selected based on both her proven passion and dedication to health care, as well as her strong essay submission outlining her innovative, patient-centered ideas for industry improvement.

She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Medicine degree at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in cell and molecular biology from Binghamton University. In addition to her role as a full-time student, she serves as a scribe in a federally funded Medicare clinic and a private clinic in Midtown Manhattan.
