New Democratic Elections Commissioner Named In Rockland

Members of the County Legislature in the Democratic Party get to make the pick.

NEW CITY, NY — Democratic members of the Rockland County Legislature have appointed Kathy Pietanza as Elections Commissioner.

Pietanza has been serving as Acting Democratic Elections Commissioner since summer, replacing Rockland County Elections Commissioner Kristen Zebrowski Stavisky, who was appointed as the Democratic Co-Executive Director of the State Board of Elections.

Pietanza previously served as Deputy Elections Commissioner.

“Kathy Pietanza has demonstrated that she understands the importance of the Elections Board and the vital role it plays in the lives of Rockland County residents,” Legislature Chairman Alden Wolfe said. “I’m confident that she will work to ensure that the best interests of all voters and would-be voters are served. On behalf of my Democratic Legislative colleagues, I congratulate Kathy and wish her the best of luck.”

Democratic county legislators unanimously named Pietanza Commissioner Tuesday, appointing her to a four-year term that began on Jan. 1 of this year.
