New York's 100 Best Private High Schools for 2016: Clarkstown's on the List

Online review and real estate site Niche.com has ranked the best private high schools across the country, and 16 Hudson Valley schools made the list of the top 100 in New York.

The ranking is ”based on statistics, student and parent reviews, and expert insights,” according to Niche. “Ranking factors include SAT/ACT scores, the quality of colleges that students consider, student-teacher ratio, student and parent reviews, and more.”

New York’s top private high school is Collegiate School in New York City, followed by Horace Mann School in the Bronx, and The Chapin School also in NYC. Riverdale Country School in the Bronx is fourth, followed by Regis High School in New York City.

In seventh place in New York is Rye Country Day School, which is the top private high school in the Hudson Valley, and it ranked 42nd on the national list. Hackley School in Greenburgh is the second-best in the Hudson Valley, ninth in New York and 51st nationally. The Masters School, also in Greenburgh, is the third-best in the Hudson Valley, and 29th in New York. Niche.com lists a school’s location by its largest nearby community.

The nation’s top private high school is Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, according to Niche, followed by Phillips Exeter in Exeter, NH, and Stanford Online High School in Stanford, CA. Rounding out the top five nationally are St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH, and The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville Township, NJ.
