NY Police Sergeant, Family Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide: Police

The man, his wife and two sons were found dead during a welfare check, authorities said.

NEW CITY, NY — A Bronxville police sergeant was found dead along with his wife and two sons on Saturday in what authorities say appears to be a murder-suicide.

Watson Morgan, 49, his wife Ornela, 43, and their sons ages 10 and 12 were found dead at the family's home on Clydesdale Court in New City when police were called at 12:20 a.m. to perform a welfare check at the house, Clarkstown Police said in a news release Saturday afternoon.

All four had gunshot wounds, police said, and all four were pronounced dead at the scene.

"Watson Morgan is employed as a sergeant with the Bronxville (NY) Police Department," the news release said.

"At this phase of the investigation it is believed that Watson killed his wife and two children, prior to killing himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound," police said.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, they said.

The investigation is continuing, but police said it is an isolated incident and the public is not in any danger.
