Oil Prices Rise, Gas Still Relatively Stable

The price of gasoline has been going up lately, and AAA predicts the trend will continue until Memorial Day.

Worries about global supply outages saw oil prices hit a six-month high Monday, according to reuters.com.

Then crude oil prices ticked up to approximately $48 per barrel on Tuesday, the highest level in the past seven months. Supply disruptions in major oil-producing regions such as Canada, Nigeria, and Venezuela have helped to prop up prices at least temporarily.

AAA said the national price for a gallon of gas went up to $2.22 from $2.21 last week, according to the Daily Messenger.

The average price of gas in New York State remained unchanged at $2.38 from last week.

The good news is that a year ago the national average cost of a gallon of gas was $2.70, the Daily Messenger said.
