UPDATE: Images from Overnight Burglaries at 2 Clarkstown Convenience Stores

UPDATE: Clarkstown police have released surveillance images of two people involved in overnight convenience store burglaries and are seeking the public's help in identifying them.


NEW CITY, NY — The Clarkstown Police Department is currently investigating two burglaries of convenience stores that occurred overnight in Upper Nyack and Valley Cottage.

Both burglaries are believed to have been committed by the same people.

At about 3:30 AM the Clarkstown Police Department responded to the Citgo Station at 501 N. Highland Ave in Upper Nyack for a report of a burglary. The officers were met by a worker who stated that he was sleeping in the rear of the store when he heard noises. The store was closed for business at the time and when the employee yelled out the suspects fled the scene in a black vehicle. It appeared that a large number of cigarette cartons were stolen as well as some currency from a cash register. The value of the cigarettes is approximately $8,000.

Then at 4:20 AM the Clarkstown Police Department responded to Lucky Convenient Store at 130 Rt. 303 in Valley Cottage for a report of the second burglary. Officers were met by a worker who stated that she arrived at the store to open for the day when she noticed the front door had been pried open. The employee stated that a safe was removed and cartons of cigarettes were taken. She was unable to determine the value of the merchandise.

The initial investigation shows connections to the two incidents and the Clarkstown Detective Bureau is gathering surveillance video and statements to build the case.
