Palisades Parkway Reopens, Probe Continues For Van Crash That Killed 4

The crash occurred overnight just south of the Rockland County border, in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ — The Palisades Parkway reopened to traffic southbound at about 7 a.m. as investigators and clean-up crews cleared the scene of a tragic crash that killed four and injured eight overnight just south of the Rockland border.

A Ford Econoline E350 van that served as a transportation service for factory workers in upstate New York to and from their residences, rolled over in the center median of the southbound lanes at 1:27 a.m., police said.

The van contained 12 passengers, several trapped inside the overturned vehicle. Four suffered severe trauma and were pronounced dead at the scene, and eight were hospitalized with injuries ranging in severity from serious head trauma to minor physical complaints, police said.

Police are still investigating the cause of the single-vehicle crash. They did not release the victims' names Friday morning.

The southbound lanes were reopened after 7 a.m. at Exit 2, New Jersey 101.5 reported.
