THIELLS, NY — Volunteers from the Hammond Road Firehouse had to answer a call Wednesday, and found something new and alarming. Parents were parking at the firehouse, which is down the street from North Rockland High School, to wait their kids after school.

And they were not only in the parking lot but backed in in front of the fire engine bays.

"Yesterday, and we've noticed more lately after reviewing camera footage, that they're literally blocking our firehouse," Assistant Fire Chief Daniel Coughlin told ABC7. "We are your emergency service, and putting the delay on us will delay us to help you."

Once it's warm enough, the plan is to paint "No Stopping, No Standing" on the asphalt and to post signs on the firehouse.

Meanwhile, fire and police officials are asking folks to voluntarily refrain.
