Pasta Cucina on Little Tor Road closed its doors for the last time in July. The restaurant had been a fixture in New City first opening in a small strip mall 16 years ago. The restaurant then moved a short distance taking over the building that once housed the Beth Carrie restaurant. The restaurant’s web site provides little information.
The reasons for 's closure are not known, although the struggling economy most likely played a role. A new owner took over the business about a year and a half ago.
There are two other restaurants in Rockland County using the Pasta Cucina name although their web sites state they are not affiliated with each other and operate independently.

County Legislator Ed Day said it is difficult to see the restaurant closed since it is where he first announced he was running for public office.
“It’s sad to me that these businesses close,” said Day. “In a community such as our there is always history. “
