Pedestrian Struck On Route 303: Clarkstown Police

A Congers woman was hit at about 6:45 p.m. by a Haverstraw resident driving north.

CLARKSTOWN, NY — A woman trying to cross Route 303 in Valley Cottage was hit by a car Tuesday evening, Clarkstown police said. The road was closed for three hours while police investigated the incident.

The driver of the car, a 72-year-old woman from Haverstraw, stopped and stayed at the scene, police said. (SIGN UP: Get Patch's daily newsletter, news alerts and updates.)

The victim, a 32-year-old Congers resident, was lying in the road when officers arrived. She was taken by Congers Valley Cottage Ambulance to the Emergency Room at Nyack Hospital.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the pedestrian was trying to cross Route 303 near Brookside Avenue at about 6:45 p.m. when she was struck by a 2010 Honda headed north on Route 303.

The medical status of the victim was not known at 7:52 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

There have been no summons issued or arrest made in regards to this incident. The investigation is continuing.
