Police: Car Pulled Over on the Thruway for Tinted Windows, Cocaine Discovered

The driver also gave a false name, police said.

On Wednesday November 5, 2014 just after 2 p.m., State Police were patrolling I-87 when they pulled over a vehicle for illegally tinted windows.

During the traffic stop, a passenger, later identified as Terick R. Goodwin, 41, from Carthage, NY, gave Troopers a fake name and after further investigation, Police located more than 30 grams of crack cocaine on his person.

As Troopers obtained the drugs and placed Goodwin under arrest, he began resisting and attempted to rip open the bag containing the crack. Troopers quickly secured him and the drugs without further incident. No one was hurt during the struggle.

Goodwin was transported to SP Tarrytown where he was found to have an additional 35 grams of cocaine hidden on his person. He was processed and charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Class B Felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, Class B Felony
  • Evidence Tampering, Class E Felony
  • Resisting Arrest, Class A Misdemeanor
  • False Personation, Class B Misdemeanor

Goodwin was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail without bail pending further court proceedings
