Police ID Mother, Daughter Killed In New Year's Day Crash In Rockland
The car went off the road in the dense fog at a hairpin turn, police said.
HAVERSTRAW, NY — Police have released the names of the victims in a New Year's Day crash at the Haverstraw waterfront that killed two Stony Point family members.
The victims were a mother and daughter. Both were passengers; the driver, another daughter, was not injured, police said.
Lordes Martinez, 65, was pronounced dead at the scene. Ana Martinez, 87, died at the hospital. Ana Polanco, 64, survived.

Police were called to Beach Road near the kayak launch at 1:30 a.m. They found a car up on an embankment on the north side of the street.
The driver told police she was headed north on Beach Road and lost control of the vehicle, which slid off the roadway. She passed field sobriety tests as well as an alcohol breath test, police said.

It's a hairpin right turn and there was dense fog, Haverstraw Police Capt. John Gould told Patch.
