Police Probe Fatal Crash On The Palisades Parkway

STONY POINT, NY — A Virginia man died on the Palisades Parkway in a one-car crash at 9 p.m. Tuesday, New York State police said.

Troopers from the Haverstraw barracks responded to the crash. Their preliminary investigation showed that a Gray 2017 Ford Escape traveling north on the parkway left the roadway for unknown reasons between exits 15 and 16 and entered the center median and struck a tree.

The driver, later identified as Marc R. Fitzsimmons, was extricated and transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 63-year-old was a resident of Colonial Beach, Virginia.

State police are asking anyone who may have seen a gray/silver Ford Escape with Virginia license plates traveling on the parkway prior to the crash to please contact Senior Investigator Carmen Goffredo at 845-364-9424 and reference SJS # 11009643.
