Powerball: A $1 Million Winner in NY; Jackpot to Swell to Record High

There was no grand-prize winner in Wednesday's Powerball, pushing Saturday's jackpot up up up.

Nobody won Wednesday’s $524 million Powerball jackpot. But somebody in New York is going to walk away from it with a cool million.

The winning numbers were 2-11-47-62-63-17.

Currently, Powerball officials estimate Saturday’s jackpot will be around $700 million, which will top a 2012 Mega Millions jackpot of $656 to set a new record for the largest lotto jackpot in U.S. history.

Somebody in New York who purchased a ticket upstate at Fredonia Food Mart in Fredonia hit on the million-dollar Match 5, meaning they matched five of those numbers, but not the Powerball. A Powerball representative told Patch the million-dollar winner lives in Sardinia, which is about 47 miles east of Fredonia.

There were also Match 5 winners in California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and Washington.

The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 292,201,338.
