Repairing Clarkstown School Boilers, Roofs: Chances for Input

Check out info on this proposed revenue-neutral bond on the website and get to one of these meetings.

The Facilities Improvement Committee has shared concerns about the aging Clarkstown school buildings and repairs that are becoming increasingly urgent.

On Sept. 8, the committee considered greater details on the three major areas of concern; roofs, boilers and transformers, items that are critical in keeping a building open for daily use. The pros and cons of a variety of action plans were laid out.

The committee ultimately recommended to the Board of Education that a bond be issued for what they characterize as much needed work. Committee members hope repairs can begin during the summer of 2017.

An important financial point: Should the community approve this bond, the debt, once state aid has been applied, can be paid for with funds already in the budget, officials said. No increase in the budget or community taxes would be necessary.

The Facilities Improvement Committee will be hosting community input meetings. Please come and join in the discussion and share your ideas about the proposed bond and improvement plan for our District. Four meetings have been scheduled at varying times in hopes that everyone interested will be able to attend.
The dates and locations are as follows:
