NEW CITY, NY – Students at Little Tor Elementary School in New City will gather Tuesday to vote on a name for the school’s mascot, the Little Tor Tiger.
And they are being assisted in this endeavor by the Rockland County Board of Elections.
Little Tor's election will be complete with ballots and electronic scanners to read and tabulate the results.

The Commissioners commented, “We are committed to unfettered access to all eligible voters and believe that the Board should serve as a community resource, encouraging citizens of all ages to register at 18 and exercise their sacred right to vote."
As far as the Election Board is concerned, the event offers an opportunity to teach the children about the voting process, stress the importance of community and government participation, and share information about the Rockland Board with parents and staff.

Meanwhile, Little Tor students have narrowed the name down to four choices: Claws, Tigey, Stripes, and Timmy.
Board staff and school personnel are making guesses and anxiously awaiting the results.
