Here are Alden Wolfe's answers to the Patch questionnaire:

What is the single most pressing issue facing our community, and what I intend to do about it.

Ensuring that Rockland County remains a safe, desirable and affordable community that we can all enjoy. Rockland County government is largely about providing services. As a Legislator, I've focused on fiscal reforms that ensure our financial stability so that we can continue to provide the cradle-to-grave services that our residents expect. I've also written legislation that protects our citizenry and their quality of life. That will continue.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Our educational backgrounds and governmental experience.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

Fiscal stability, protecting our environment, , economic development, consumer protection

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

The local laws and advocacy that I've driven through the years. Just a few examples include leading opposition to the planned desalination plant and Indian Point, protection of hundreds of acres of open space in perpetuity, legislation prohibiting the sale of drop side cribs, banning trans fats, protecting children from risks of UV tanning beds, advocating for Medicaid reform and strengthening our efforts to combat fraud, enacting a fund balance management policy, improving traffic and pedestrian safety locally and on the NYS Thruway, created the "Trail Town" initiative to encourage economic growth in Western Ramapo, implementing property tax exemptions for seniors and veterans...

The best advice ever shared with me was …

An honest person will always sleep well at night.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

My door is always open for a discussion on any issue. Anyone who wishes to discuss an issue with me just needs to call, and we can meet for coffee. I'll even buy.
