The RCC trustees want Dr. Michael Baston to build on the school's achievements under Dr. Cliff Wood over the last 13 years.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — The State University of New York and Rockland Community College announce the appointment of Dr. Michael A. Baston as president of RCC. Dr. Baston’s appointment is effective July 1. He will be paid $225,000 annually.

“Dr. Baston has precisely the right balance of professional qualifications and strategic vision to lead Rockland Community College into its next chapter,” said SUNY Board Chairman H. Carl McCall in a statement Wednesday. “I look forward to working with Dr. Baston as we continue to build upon the college’s strong foundation of academic excellence, workforce development, and community service.”

Dr. Baston has held executive leadership positions at LaGuardia Community College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system, overseeing programs to enhance academic, personal, and social success of more than 50,000 students. Most recently, Dr. Baston has served as acting provost and vice president for academic and student affairs, where he led the largest student affairs portfolio of any CUNY college. At LaGuardia, he also served as associate provost and associate dean for student affairs and enrollment management.
