Donate Blood on Flag Day: Rockland County Exec

A blood drive has been organized by county employees.

NEW CITY, NY — Rockland County Executive Ed Day invites members of the community to join county employees at a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday. June 14 is both Flag Day and World Blood Donor Day.

"Giving your blood to save someone's life is a patriotic act and a perfect way to observe Flag Day," said the County Executive who is on the New York Blood Center's Volunteer Leadership Team.

He will also take part in a ceremony earlier that day to honor eight of Rockland County's top blood donors.

"These residents who have given so generously of themselves so that others may live set an example for all of us," he said.

The blood drive, which has been organized by county employees, will be held at the Rockland Fire Training Center, 30 Firemen's Memorial Drive, Pomona. It will be run by the New York Blood Center, which serves hospitals in Rockland and throughout the region.
