Rockland DA: Husband Pawned Wife's $7K Diamond Pendant, Claimed it was Stolen

The husband pawned the pendant at a Clarkstown pawn shop but then filed an insurance claim to receive cash, authorities allege.

It’s alleged that Charles Hacker, 63, of Montebello, tried to have his cake and eat it too, and now he’s facing a whole bunch of criminal charges.

Hacker is due in court this morning on allegations he pawned his wife’s 1.60 carat diamond pendant worth $7,400 at Clarkstown Coin & Jewelry, and then filed an insurance claim reporting it was stolen, possibly by a houseguest, reports Fios 1.

He received an insurance check for $7,350 in 2014 but a police detective was able to determine that the pendant was never stolen, and that Hacker had simply pawned it.
