Rockland Man Accused Of Punching Girlfriend While She Held Their Baby

Ramapo police said he fled the scene of the reported domestic violence, but was picked up by officers on Sunday.

RAMAPO, NY — A man is accused of hitting the mother of his child while she held their infant child.

On Friday, the Ramapo Police Department was called to a home in the Hillcrest section of the town for a domestic dispute. When police arrived, they learned that the boyfriend involved had already left the scene. Investigators believe that the boyfriend assaulted the mother of his child while she was holding their baby.

The mother reported sustained pain and police report that there was bruising and swelling to her face.

Police caught up with the boyfriend, a 25-year-old Hillcrest resident, on Sunday. He was arrested and charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment. He was released without bail, an order of protection was issued and he was told to appear in Ramapo Town Court on Oct.27.
