Rockland Man Took Stolen Car Upstate: Police

The car was reported stolen from Spring Valley on Tuesday.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A Spring Valley man was arrested Wednesday morning upstate by New York State Police. Troopers were called to a service area on westbound I-90 in the town of Van Buren on a report of a possible stolen vehicle.

They say a blue 20o2 Ford Escape was reported stolen to the Spring Valley Police Department on Tuesday. Their investigation concluded that Victor F. Diaz, 24, took it without the owner’s permission.

Diaz was taken into custody, transported and processed at State Police offices in Syracuse, where he was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th degree; a Class E Felony
  • Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor


Diaz was transported and held at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending arraignment in the Town of Van Buren Court on Feb. 8, 2018.
