Rockland Teen Shoots Pedestrian With Gel Pellet Gun: PD

Police said three teens were out joyriding at 2 a.m. Sunday.

RAMAPO, NY — A person standing in a driveway on Decatur Avenue at 2:20 a.m. Sunday was shot in the face by a joyriding teenager with a gel pellet gun, Ramapo police reported.

The person suffered a minor injury, police said.

Investigating detectives conducted numerous interviews, and were helped by an alert Chaverim of Rockland member who provided information on a suspect vehicle.

They said they discovered that three juveniles were out for a joyride, and one of the passengers in the car was shooting at garbage cans with a gel-gun.

They arrested the teen, a 16-year-old from Spring Valley. The case will be handled in family court due to his age. The charges are second-degree attempted assault, a felony; second-degree reckless endangerment, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
