Shocking Highs: New City's Weather for the Work Week, Spring Break

Plus an early forecast for Easter and Passover weekend around Clarkstown

NEW CITY, NY — This week's temps are going to be a shock to the system. Sunday's temps in the high 60s across the Hudson Valley were about 10 degrees above average, a far cry from the 10-degrees-below-average temps we saw through March. On Tuesday, the thermometer could hit 80 degrees in some places.

In many cases, "temperatures will be 50 to 60 degrees higher comparing the mornings from this weekend with the afternoons on Monday and Tuesday," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said.

Highs this time of year typically range from the lower 50s in Boston and Buffalo, New York, to near 65 F in Washington, D.C., according to AccuWeather.

"So we’ve got some fantastic weather heading our way over the next 3 or 4 days," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "Even Wednesday looks to make it into the 60s with some sunshine at some point. Hopefully you’ll be able to take advantage of this great weather at some point."

That cooler air he's talking about will still bring above normal temperatures to the area Wednesday through Friday, though Saturday morning will be chilly. Still, anyone planning egg hunts might want to do them on Saturday, as a cold front Sunday could bring showers and thunderstorms toward the Northeast.
