Mott Farm Road Resident Accused Of Killing Garnerville Man: Update

A 21-year-old was arrested in the death of a 47-year-old.

STONY POINT, NY — A Garnerville man died in a shooting in Stony Point Saturday night.

Police were called to a shooting at 11:35 p.m.by a woman who said police and EMS were needed at 101 Mott Farm Road for a victim who was shot and bleeding.

Stony Point Police responded to 101 Mott Farm Road along with Haverstraw Police, The Rockland County Sheriff’s Department and New York State Police.

The officers found the body of Jason Colwell, 47.

Stony Point Detectives were called out and initiated an investigation. They were assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Departments BCI, Computer Crimes units, the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.

The weapon was located at the scene and secured by detectives.

A 21-year-old resident was arrested at the scene. He requested to be represented by counsel and provided no statements. Javier Medina Jr. was charged with second-degree murder.He was arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Jail without bail.

Three women who were at the location at the time of the shooting were cooperative and provided statements to detectives who are continuing the investigation, police said.
