Originally from California, Marianne Osiel moved to New York after years in the music business in Nashville Tennessee, where she could be seen by day and early evening playing oboe with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and by late night leading her own band, the Delta Elements. Marianne’s work as a recording session musician can be found on hundreds of recordings, from classical to country to pop and beyond. She has opened for Bo Diddley at the Bottom Line, soloed at the Blue Note with Nanci Griffith and performed as a multi-instrumentalist with John Hall, Robbie Dupree and David Amram. As a singer songwriter, her style could be likened to the introspective poetry of Patty Larkin or Shawn Colvin, the raw edge of Melissa Etheridge, and “focussed sass” of Bonnie Raitt -- and Marianne brings an essence distinctly her own.
