Spring Valley Man Accused Of DWI In New Hempstead

It's a felony charge because there was a passenger under 16 years old in the car, the Rockland County Sheriff said.

NEW HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Spring Valley man faces a felony DWI charge for having a passenger under 16 years old, Sheriff Louis Falco announced.

A Sheriff Patrol Officer saw Ismael Roldan-Zuniga, 29, operating a motor vehicle on Route 45 in the village of New Hempstead at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, police said. He stopped the car and concluded the driver was intoxicated. Arrested and processed at Sheriff HQ in New City, the man was found to have a blood alcohol level of more than .18%, police said.

He was arraigned at the Town of Orangetown Justice Court and released on his own recognance until his next court date.
