Spring Valley Man Sentenced For Sexual Abuse Of His Biological Niece

Holger Chuya-Andrade started abusing his niece when she was just 7 years old and continued until she was 10 years old.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A man who sexually abused his niece, beginning when she was just seven years old, could spend the rest of his life in prison.

Holger Chuya-Andrade, 33, of Spring Valley, was sentenced to 20 years to life on one count and 20 years on a second count, to run concurrently, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh announced on Wednesday.

On September 16, Chuya-Andrade was convicted after a Rockland County jury trial on one felony count of predatory sexual assault against a child and one felony count of first degree course of sexual conduct against a child.

From May 1, 2011 through May 1, 2014, Chuya-Andrade sexually abused his biological niece, which started when the victim was 7 years old and continued until she was 10 years old.

"There is nothing more precious than the lives and safety of our children," Walsh said in a statement announcing the sentence. "The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office will undertake all efforts to protect Rockland’s most vulnerable. This conviction and sentence is one step to ensuring our children can safely enjoy their childhood. We will stand with this victim and help in any way possible to help them overcome this trauma from this predator."

Chuya-Andrade was sentenced by Judge Kevin Russo on Monday. If Chuya-Andrade is ever released from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender.

The investigation was conducted by the Spring Valley Police Department with assistance from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit.
