Spring Valley PD Warns About Geek Squad Imposter Scam
Rockland County residents are being targeted by con artists posing as tech support, falsely claiming that customers owe money.
SPRING VALLEY, NY — The Spring Valley Police Department warned on Wednesday that they received complaints about a scam involving fake Geek Squad messages to the tech service's customers.
Police said victims have received emails saying that they owe money for a service plan and that there is a past due balance on their account.
The victims are then asked to provide their bank account information or pre-paid gift cards only to find out a day later that a large sum of money was removed from their account without permission.
