Stony Point Domestic Dispute, Standoff With Police Leads To An Arrest

A domestic dispute involving firearms led to a nearly five-hour-long standoff with police before a suspect was safely taken into custody.

STONY POINT, NY — A tense standoff in Stony Point was brought to a peaceful conclusion after a nearly five-hour standoff with police.

On Thursday afternoon, just before 1 p.m., the Stony Point Police Department and neighboring Rockland County law enforcement agencies responded to a domestic situation with someone barricaded inside, near Fillmore Dr. and Pyngyp Rd.

Authorities said that the issue was contained and there was never any threat to the public. They did ask residents to avoid the area for several hours on Thursday .

Shortly after 5 p.m., the incident was resolved with the person at the center of "a domestic dispute involving firearms" taken into custody.

Stony Point police thanked the law enforcement and EMS responders who assisted them and helped to resolve the incident peacefully. They also thanked area residents for their patience and cooperation.
