
ROCKLAND, NY – A police chase on the New York State Thruway this weekend ended with a crash in Ramapo and two arrests. No one was injured, police said.
State police were called to assist the Ramapo police with the chase on I-87 at about 12:11 a.m. Feb. 10. However while enroute the troopers were advised that the pursuit was terminated because the suspect vehicle had crashed into a tree on North Airmont Road and all suspects were in custody.
State police allege the driver, Ashley M. Peralta, 19, of Elizabeth, NJ and the passenger, Aaron L. Jackson, 30, of Staten Island, NY were in possession of about 5.18 grams of marijuana and 13 forged personal checks. Additionally, Jackson was also in possession of two stolen credit cards.

Both Jackson and Peralta were taken into custody, transported, and processed at State Police barracks in Tarrytown. They were charged with:
- Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st degree; a Class C Felony (13counts, Jackson and Peralta)
- Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd; a Class A Misdemeanor (Peralta)
- Unlawful Possession of Marihuana; a Violation (Jackson and Peralta)
- Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree; a Class E Felony (2 counts, Jackson only)
- Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations (Peralta only)
Both Jackson and Peralta were arraigned in the Village of Suffern Court and sent to the Rockland County Jail. Jackson was remanded with no bail and Peralta in lieu of $25,000.
