Truck Pulls Wires, Leaves Neighborhood, School Powerless
New City Elementary School did open, just with a two-hour delay.

NEW CITY, NY — Power lines were torn down by a passing truck on American Legion Way early Wednesday morning, starting a fire, leaving the neighborhood without electricity, and forcing a two-hour delay at New City Elementary School.
The surrounding intersections — Route 304, Congers Road and Third Street — lost power. Clarkstown police asked drivers to avoid the area due to the fire and the loss of traffic lights.
Power was restored and classes at New City Elementary started at 9:50 a.m.
