Victim Of Fatal Christmas Eve Hit-And-Run in Rockland ID'd

STONY POINT, NY — A woman who died after a Christmas Eve hit-and-run at the intersection of Route 9W and Filors Lane has been identified as Maria Osai, 35.

After she was hit, about 9:42 p.m., Stony Point police mounted an extensive search and sought the public's help finding the vehicle and operator, who was said to have left the scene headed south on 9W.

At 5 a.m. on Christmas, police posted that the vehicle and driver had been found. Jorge Flores-Villalba, a Haverstraw resident who does not have a license, faces a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a felony. He is due back in court Jan. 9.

"If anyone is a witness to this accident or has information about this incident, please contact the Detective Bureau of the Stony Point Police Dept. at 845-786-2422 as the investigation is on-going," police said.
