Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: 42nd Annual Rockland Read-In

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Lower Hudson Valley, courtesy of Volunteer New York!. This is a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

42nd Annual Rockland Read-In
Spring Valley High School is looking for volunteers to read to students for 30-minute periods during the 42nd Annual Rockland Read-In! A teacher will supervise the class during the reading. Volunteers who are fluent in Spanish and other languages are especially encouraged. This is a perfect opportunity for individuals, college graduates, and seniors to share their passion for reading with young people.
Date: 2/13 from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; multiple opportunities. Register by 2/11

Workshop Translator (Spanish)
Neighbors Link is seeking a volunteer to help translate for an upcoming workshop called "Introduction to Construction Trades." The workshop will be presented in English by an instructor, and the Volunteer Translator will help provide translation to the attendees if needed.

MAC Angels Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals and families impacted by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). It is seeking individuals with social work or neurology nursing experience to serve on its board of directors. Each of these board members serves as a strategic advisor and an advocate for families impacted by ALS, ensuring that the organization is responsive to the real-world needs of patients and caregivers.
