Volunteers Needed For Spring Clean Up At Lake DeForest, Elsewhere

NEW CITY, NY — As part of the annual Great American Cleanup, Keep Rockland Beautiful, Hackensack Riverkeeper and SUEZ will host a community cleanup event April 9 at Lake DeForest in New City.

The 6-billion-gallon reservoir provides drinking water for many county residents. So it's a perfect fit for the Great American Cleanup, in which Keep Rockland Beautiful participates annually and makes a real impact throughout Rockland every spring. "Join the movement and be part of the change!" KRB says about the 2-month event.

The three-hour cleanup at Lake DeForest will begin at 9 a.m. at the north end of the Freedom Causeway, which is near the intersection of Congers Road and Strawtown Road in New City.

Volunteers will be joined by SUEZ employee volunteers to pick up trash in and around the reservoir.
