Warming Trend, Rain: New City's Work Week Weather

There's a chance - in January! - to put away the really heavy winter coat. Here's what you can expect around Clarkstown.

NEW CITY, NY — Monday’s wintry weather will usher in a warming trend for the rest of the work week in the Hudson Valley. By Friday, daytime highs could be in the 50s! The downside is that rain is likely. Hey, at least it will be too warm to snow.

Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather said by Tuesday the region will “crack the freezing mark for the first time in 14 days. But then things really begin to warm up for the second half of the week.”

A late-week storm will track along the cold-warm boundary, bringing rain to the Hudson Valley instead of more snow, according to Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.

“The combination of surging temperatures, drenching rain and melting snow will accelerate a thaw that will already be underway from the Appalachians to the Atlantic coast,” he said.

“At the very least, travelers and property owners should be prepared for poor drainage area flooding beginning on Friday,” Sosnowski said.
