UPDATE: Ambulette Passenger Dead in Crash with Minibus

Four others were injured including both drivers and the two passengers in the bus.

UPDATE: A collision at Route 303 and Palisades Center drive involving an ambulette and a minibus injured four and proved fatal for one person.

Clarkstown police said they were called to the crash at about 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.

A minibus carrying two passengers and an ambulette carrying one passenger had collided in the traffic-controlled intersection.

All passengers and drivers were transported to Nyack Hospital for evaluation and treatment. The passenger of the ambulette, a 48-year-old man, was pronounced dead at Nyack Hospital a short time later, police said.

Identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.

None of the injuries sustained by the other four people are deemed to be life threatening.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Clarkstown Police Accident Investigation Team members were on scene to investigate contributing factors and the cause of the accident. Traffic in the area was still closed southbound at Palisades Center Drive North and Rt. 303 at 8 p.m.

The Clarkstown Police Department is currently investigating an accident which occurred on Route 303 in the vicinity of the Palisades Center Mall.

ABC7 reports that one person was killed. “The victim was a 48-year old being transported in the ambulette,” according to 7online.com.

Initial reports indicate the accident involved a small bus and an ambulette. At this time, neither the cause of the accident nor the nature of the injuries is known, Clarkstown police said.

Rt 303 from Palisades Center Drive North to Palisades Center Drive South is closed. Updates will be made as information becomes available, police said.

Traffic along the roads around the Palisades Center and on the New York State Thruway is slow.
