“Sadly, the victim succumbed to her injuries,” DiPaolo said, in an announcement Monday.

Investigators believe the victim had gotten out of her vehicle while it was inadvertently left in reverse instead of park, police said.

“As she attempted to re-enter the vehicle, it struck her, causing catastrophic injuries,” DiPaolo said.

The accident is still under investigation.
