Woman's Body Recovered From Deadly Rockland County House Fire: Police
The "heavily involved fire" started Sunday morning, in New City, according to the Clarkstown Police Department.

NEW CITY, NY — A woman's body has been recovered following a house fire.
The Clarkstown Police Department says that on Sunday morning, around 9:05 a.m., officers responded to a report of a structure fire on Carolina Drive, in New City, indicating that a resident might still be inside the home.
Once at the scene, officers found a single-family home heavily involved in fire.

The New City Fire Engine Company responded to the scene, along with several volunteer fire departments from Rockland County.
Firefighters were met with intense fire conditions and a partial structural collapse while operating at the scene. The fire was eventually brought under control by crews.

However, after the fire had been extinguished, a woman's body was found inside the home.
The Clarkstown Police Department says that it "extends its deepest condolences to the victim's family and loved ones during this difficult time."
Detectives are investigating the fire.
"My thoughts and prayers are with the family that lost a loved one this morning," Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann said in a statement on social media.
"Horrifying news in New City about a tragic fire that has claimed the life of one of our neighbors," Assemblymember Patrick J. Carroll said on social media. "My heart breaks for those impacted and I extend my condolences for those who will be grieving this loss. I'm grateful for the local fire departments and law enforcement for their response and service to our community. I will continue to monitor this situation."
