Worker Dies After Landscaping Truck Rolls On Top Of Him

A 68-year-old man was pronounced dead after police said an unoccupied pickup rolled backward on Bradley Parkway in Blauvelt.

BLUAVELT, NY — A deadly workplace accident is being investigated in Rockland County.

A 68-year-old man died Thursday morning after a vehicle incident on Bradley Parkway in Blauvelt.

Police responded to Bradley Parkway at about 8:21 a.m. on Oct. 8, for a reported motor vehicle accident. When patrol officers arrived at the scene, they found the man unresponsive and pinned under a Ford F350 pickup truck.

Emergency medical personnel responded, where the victim was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation indicates the unoccupied vehicle, "for reasons still under investigation," began to roll backward and struck the victim.

Police have so far not released the victim's name

The Orangetown Police Department said several agencies assisted at the scene, including the Rockland County Sheriff's Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the New York State Police, the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps, the Rockland Paramedic Service, the Blauvelt Volunteer Fire Department, and a representative from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The fatal accident remains under investigation by the Orangetown Police Department Accident Investigation Team.
