Putnam County Reports More Cases

Here is the latest update.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — The Putnam County Department of Health is confirming 16 new positive cases of new coronavirus in Putnam County residents, bringing the total to 109 cases.

Now is the time to focus on slowing the spread of the virus officially known as COVID-19, and lowering the pressure on the local health care system, health department officials said. By staying home you can be part of the solution.

The total number of confirmed cases in New York was 37,258 as of Thursday morning; 385 people have died, up from 285 the day before, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said at his Thursday news briefing.

There are 5,327 people currently hospitalized with the coronavirus, including 1,290 ICU patients.

While the average time on a ventilator for an ICU patient is 3-4 days, coronavirus patients who need ventilators are on them for 11-21 days, Cuomo said. Patients who are on ventilators for very long times have worse outcomes, he said.
