Bakery Closes After Half-Century

A Seventh Street staple has closed its doors. Riesterer's Bakery, located at 96 Seventh Street, served the Garden City community for more than five decades. A sign on the front door says that "after 50 plus years and a substantial rent increase" the bakery is relocating to its "larger West Hempstead store" located at 282 Hempstead Ave., the Riesterer family's flagship store.
