Bennett Vadnais a Guest Artist at Art League of Nassau County

Clinton G. Martin Rec Center was demo location.

The Art League of Nassau County (ALNC) welcomed professional artist, Bennett Vadnais to its September meeting. He demonstrated a unique method of acrylic painting on watercolor paper. His subject was a factory scene with accurate perspective. Vadnais’ procedure was to cover some of the surface with shades of grey for an under-painting first, sealing it and then painting thin watercolor type washes of more colorful acrylic paint on top.

Bennett Vadnais grew up in Washington State. He trained in the classical tradition at such schools as the Water Street Atelier in Brooklyn and the Art Students League in Manhattan. His work has earned him various awards, including the first scholarship given by the American Society of Classical Realism and a merit scholarship from the Art Students League. In 2003, he was the recipient of both the Edward McDowell and the Xavier Gonzalez travel grants, where he studied in Europe.

Currently, Bennett is exhibiting with Galerie L’Oeil du Prince in Paris and the George Billis Gallery in New York. Vadnais works primarily in acrylic. He is an instructor of painting and drawing at the Teaching Studios of Art in Brooklyn and Oyster Bay, and teaches privately in New York City. (www.BennettVadnais.com)
