UPDATE: Man Fatally Struck by Train in New Hyde Park, LIRR Service Restored

LIRR service had been suspended on three branches.

UPDATE: LIRR service on all three affected branches has now been restored.

A man was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train in New Hyde Park on Sunday afternoon.

LIRR service is currently suspended in both directions between Jamaica and Hicksville on the Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches.

The elderly man who was struck had been on the platform at the New Hyde Park station when he somehow ended up on the tracks, Newsday reported, citing a LIRR spokesman.
