Car Fatally Strikes Woman, Injures Daughter Near Americana Manhasset

The woman and her 15-year-old daughter were crossing the street when they were struck by a vehicle Tuesday night, police said.

A Queens woman was killed Tuesday night when she and her teenage daughter were struck by a car while attempting to cross the street near the Americana Manhasset shopping center in Manhasset, police said.

According to authorities, Jin Lin, 48, of Flushing, and her 15-year-old daughter were attempting to cross Northern Boulevard, near Copley Road, when they were both struck by a 2005 Hyundai Elantra that was traveling westbound at 7:10 p.m.

Lin was transported to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset where she was pronounced dead at 7:42 p.m. The daughter was taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-fatal injuries.

The Hyundai was being driven by a 76-year-old man when the crash occurred. Police do not suspect criminality at this time.

The vehicle was impounded for a brake and safety inspection.
