Doctor Accused Of Sex Offense During Oncology Appointment Pleads Not Guilty

The doctor is accused of having unwanted sexual contact with a woman during a routine oncology appointment, police say.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY. — A 71-year-old doctor pleaded not guilty to charges of forcible touching and third-degree sexual abuse Thursday, court documents show, after being arrested and accused of making unwanted sexual contact with a 48-year-old woman during an oncology appointment.

Nassau County police said 71-year-old Dr. Mark Hoffman was arrested Thursday, with police saying he had made unwanted sexual contact with the woman during an appointment last year.

In the announcement of the arrest, police said Hoffman had been alone in an exam room with the woman on May 9, 2025, without the presence of a nurse, when the unwanted sexual contact occurred.

Hoffman was arraigned Thursday, entering the pair of not guilty pleas and having his bail set at $10,000 cash, $20,000 insured bond and $50,000 partially secured surety bond, court documents show.
