Duo Caught With 22 Pounds Of Meth On Northern State Parkway: Cops

BREAKING: The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $1.3 million, police say.

LAKE SUCCESS, NY – Two people were arrested after police found more than 22 pounds of methamphetamine inside their Jeep on the Northern State Parkway Saturday night, State Police said.

According to police, troopers stopped a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee for speeding and insufficient taillights on the Northern State near Exit 25 in Lake Success at about 7:50 p.m.

An investigation led to the discovery of more than a million dollars worth of meth inside the vehicle, police said.

Francisco Roman Parra Perez, 27, and Sandra Cardenas Parra, 36, both of Phoenix, Arizona, were each charged with one count of second degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both of those charges are felonies.

Perez and Para are being held in jail pending arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead Monday.

“This investigation resulted in the removal of a large quantity of a dangerous drug that was destined for the streets of Nassau County, with an estimated street value of $1.3 million," New York State Police Maj. David Candelaria said. "The New York State Police and our partner agencies will continue to attack the illicit trafficking of dangerous narcotics into our communities.”
